I want to go through the process where I can grow the most. When I retire from baseball, I want to be able to feel that I did.
My goal right now is to fully accomplish what I haven’t yet done. As for the dream beyond that — when I design my life, it becomes, ‘Yeah, I want to try playing in the majors.’
There isn’t a right answer. For me, whatever I chose and committed to — that’s the right answer.
There’s a big difference between being made to follow a routine and truly understanding how the training connects to results.
You try it first. Then you feel it. Confidence comes afterward.
Even when I’m resting, I sometimes get ideas like, ‘Maybe I should try it this way.’ Most of the time, I go straight to the weight room or the indoor practice field and test that idea.
When it comes to how far I can go, I don’t need limits.
I respond to interviews sincerely. But I don’t like being watched during my individual workouts in the indoor facility after team practice.
Would more practice fix it? Or could a shift in mindset change my condition? I felt I had to test that — so I stopped swinging the bat.
It’s impossible to master every skill, but I want to get even a little closer to the ideal form. Time is equal for everyone — but there’s never enough of it.
Daily accumulation and the work of searching for breakthroughs — both are necessary. Because you never know when it will come.
There’s a certain fear in taking a day off from practice. You might be crushing the possibility that you could have gotten better.
